About the role
Hancock Iron Ore is building a high‑performing mining business that prioritises responsible resource development, operational excellence and long‑term environmental stewardship. We are looking for an experienced environmental leader to join our Risk and Compliance team as Superintendent Environment – Execution.
Reporting to the Manager Environment and Approvals, you will lead the environmental execution teams responsible for implementing environmental management across Hancock Iron Ore’s operational sites. Working closely with operational teams, regulators and stakeholders, you will oversee environmental compliance and performance while driving continuous improvement in environmental outcomes.

Duties
- Lead and develop a high‑performing environment execution team, fostering a safe, collaborative and accountable culture
- Coordinate environmental monitoring programs and ensure timely, accurate reporting and incident response
- Identify, assess and manage environmental risks across operations, supporting proactive mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain strong environmental governance through effective compliance tracking, documentation and regulatory reporting
- Lead environmental audits and inspections, ensuring findings are addressed and corrective actions are implemented
- Provide practical guidance and training to operational teams to embed environmental practices into day‑to‑day activities
- Manage environmental consultants and contractors and support engagement with regulators, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders
About you
You are an experienced environmental professional with strong operational awareness and the ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and site leadership. You bring a practical approach to compliance, strong leadership capability and a focus on improving environmental performance.
Skills and experience
- Significant experience in environmental management within mining, resources or heavy industry, including experience leading teams and environmental programs on operational sites
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals and compliance requirements within regulated operational environments
- Experience managing environmental monitoring programs, audits, incident investigations and environmental risk management
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and engage with regulators, contractors and other external stakeholders
- Experience managing environmental consultants and contractors and supporting operational teams to implement environmental practices
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline and a current Australian C‑class driver’s licence; experience with environmental management systems, rehabilitation or data analytics is highly regarded
